One of the highlights of newly-elected, Pope John Paul II's first visit to America was his stop at Madison Square Garden.

As the unofficial beginning of World Youth Day, the event brought more than 20,000 young people from throughout the tri-state area to The Garden to hear directly from their new Pope.
